Menthol crystals are an ingredient in many cosmetics because of their soothing coolness and crisp, refreshing smell. They can be used in toothpaste, mouthwashes, shampoo and conditioners, shaving creams to
alleviate razor burn, salves, lip balms, medicated creams, sore throat sprays lozenges, decongestants, cooling gels and medicated oils. When used in hair products, menthol is thought to have a balancing effect that regulates oil production on the scalp and clears dandruff. By improving hair damage, menthol encourages the growth of longer, stronger more luscious hair.

In skin care applications, menthol can eliminate blackheads, diminish the appearance of red/ageing spots and prevent acne breakouts.
